Marching Band Festival

Nana, Kelly and I went to watch Madie and the Leon Marching Redcoats compete in the annual MPA Festival. They were awesome and did an excellent job that day. The band received an overall Excellent and the colorguard received their first Excellent.

JROTC Marine Birthday Ball

Madie and I went to the Leon ROTC Birthday Ball. We went together earlier in the week and had our hair done and we both wore new dresses. Madie's escort for the evening, Trevor, met us at the ball. Madie and I were supposed to sit in the back but were invited to sit with the Gentry family up front. Carole Gentry's father was the guest speaker for the event and he gave a great speech. After dinner there was a very nice program put on by the drill team and then a dance. It was a very nice evening.

Keel family hot dog roast

This year's Keel family annual hot dog roast had to be held on Sunday night due to everyone's busy schedule. We had a great time roasting hot dogs, eating smores, jumping on the trampoline, bobbing for apples and visiting with family and friends.

TRICK OR TREAT!

We went Trick-or-treating with the NeSmith family and had a blast!! The kids started out riding on the back of the wagon but after the first house it was just us mom's...and we had so much fun. Afterwards we went back to Nanci's parents house for some wonderful chili.

Leon Homecoming

Leon's Homecoming celebrations were held at their school field. The band marched before the game and did an awesome job as usual. Got some great shots of Madie watching the game from the railing.

Leon Fall Band Concert

Leon High School had their first band concert of the year and we enjoyed listening to the wonderful music. Madie and Hannah looked so beautiful in their band dresses and Robin and I snapped lots of pictures of the girls together.

Leon vs Chiles

Jeff and I went to watch the football game...well actually the marching band. The girls finally have their uniforms and looked really cute in them. Go Leon Marching Redcoats.

I love how the football team comes over to the band after they win and sing their school song with the band...it is so cool!!! What a great tradition.

Labor Day Picnic

We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon sitting by the pool, eating, and visiting with family and friends. The NeSmith's joined all the Keel's for the afternoon. The kids, minus Madie (who sat with the adults and texted!) had lots of fun jumping in the pool and playing a made up "football" game.

Leon vs Godby

Leon had their first football game of the year. They have lost the past 12 games to Godby. Well we must have been playing lucky number 13! Last night they won 20-16 in the last 30 seconds of the game. It was awesome!!! The crowd and the team were going crazy. I hope that the rest of the season will be as good.

The Red Coats only marched to one of their halftime tunes last night and the colorguard doesn't have their uniforms yet (at least they had their new flags!) Won't be in for next weeks game either...not too happy about that. Paid too much money for them not to get worn for two games. Can't wait to see them perform the whole show.

Back to School

Can't believe the summer is over and the kids are going back to school. Madie will be a Sophomore at Leon High School, Michaela will be starting 7th at Raa Middle School and Kelly will be starting 3rd at Springwood Elementary. We've got the trifecta of schools again this year!

Band Camp

Madie has just spent the last two weeks attending band camp for her high school marching band. Most days they were there from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm. Some very long, hot days for them! On Friday night we went to watch what they had been working so hard on. They treated us to their warm up exercises, techniques, and the first part of their show. It will be great to see it all come together at their first football game.

Hannah O'Donnell and Madie have been friends since they were little kids...now they are in high school and marching band together.

Great buys!

Madie, two of her friend - Molly and Kendal, and I went school shopping and happened to walk through the area in Dillards where all of the prom dresses were. The girls had fun trying on the dresses and we ended up with two. The short one was normally a $120 dress we got for $17 and the long one was normally $229 and we got it for $30. Wasn't planning on spending that $47 but I'm sure we will be glad we did when the opportunity for her to wear them comes around and we don't have to pay full price.

Plus, doesn't she look beautiful in them!!!

Fishin' at Joe Budd

We took the kids fishing out at Joe Budd Pond on Saturday morning. Although the fish weren't biting very much (we only caught 5 total) everybody had lots of fun.
