Marching Band Festival

Nana, Kelly and I went to watch Madie and the Leon Marching Redcoats compete in the annual MPA Festival. They were awesome and did an excellent job that day. The band received an overall Excellent and the colorguard received their first Excellent.

JROTC Marine Birthday Ball

Madie and I went to the Leon ROTC Birthday Ball. We went together earlier in the week and had our hair done and we both wore new dresses. Madie's escort for the evening, Trevor, met us at the ball. Madie and I were supposed to sit in the back but were invited to sit with the Gentry family up front. Carole Gentry's father was the guest speaker for the event and he gave a great speech. After dinner there was a very nice program put on by the drill team and then a dance. It was a very nice evening.

Kelly's field trip to the Jr. Museum

Kelly's 3rd grade class went to the Jr. Museum for a field trip today. They had a guided tour and got to do lots of cool things like ... make butter, plow and plant a field and participate in a day in a one room school house. We even took a quick little trip around the trail after lunch to look at some of the animals. I am so glad that I got to join Kelly and his class on the trip!

Leon Homecoming

Leon's Homecoming celebrations were held at their school field. The band marched before the game and did an awesome job as usual. Got some great shots of Madie watching the game from the railing.

Leon Fall Band Concert

Leon High School had their first band concert of the year and we enjoyed listening to the wonderful music. Madie and Hannah looked so beautiful in their band dresses and Robin and I snapped lots of pictures of the girls together.

Leon vs Chiles

Jeff and I went to watch the football game...well actually the marching band. The girls finally have their uniforms and looked really cute in them. Go Leon Marching Redcoats.

Jeff actually let me buy him a Leon hat!!!

I love how the football team comes over to the band after they win and sing their school song with the band...it is so cool!!! What a great tradition.

Leon vs Godby

Leon had their first football game of the year. They have lost the past 12 games to Godby. Well we must have been playing lucky number 13! Last night they won 20-16 in the last 30 seconds of the game. It was awesome!!! The crowd and the team were going crazy. I hope that the rest of the season will be as good.

The Red Coats only marched to one of their halftime tunes last night and the colorguard doesn't have their uniforms yet (at least they had their new flags!) Won't be in for next weeks game either...not too happy about that. Paid too much money for them not to get worn for two games. Can't wait to see them perform the whole show.

Back to School

Can't believe the summer is over and the kids are going back to school. Madie will be a Sophomore at Leon High School, Michaela will be starting 7th at Raa Middle School and Kelly will be starting 3rd at Springwood Elementary. We've got the trifecta of schools again this year!

Band Camp

Madie has just spent the last two weeks attending band camp for her high school marching band. Most days they were there from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm. Some very long, hot days for them! On Friday night we went to watch what they had been working so hard on. They treated us to their warm up exercises, techniques, and the first part of their show. It will be great to see it all come together at their first football game.

Hannah O'Donnell and Madie have been friends since they were little kids...now they are in high school and marching band together.

Band Geek of the Year!

Michaela got in the car of the last day of school proudly holding this trophy...and I do mean proudly...she wouldn't put it down for hours! She was awarded Raa MS 6th grade Band Student of the Year! Whoohoo! Way to go Michaela...must have gotten that talent from your Daddy 'cuz you know the only thing your Mom can play is the radio! We are so proud of you!

Kelly's first violin performance

Kelly took violin lessons at school this year. He was the only 2nd grader in the class, the others were all 5th graders. They accepted him well and he got to join them as they played for the 5th grade graduation program. He was so cute!

Raa Middle School Band Concert

Michaela was so excited to join the band in school. She has really excelled at playing the saxophone and enjoys it immensely. This was the first time we have gotten to see her play with the rest of her class and although the gym was extremely hot we enjoyed ourselves. We also thought it was cute how her dimple really showed when she played.

Kelly goes down under...

Kelly's 2nd grade class did a play all about Australia. Kelly was a koala bear and was quite adorable! They sang some real cute songs and gave us lots of information about the people, animals and land "Down under".

Madie goes to Disney...

Madie went with the Leon band to Disney. They left early VERY EARLY on a Friday (3/13) morning and returned VERY EARLY Sunday (3/15) morning. They had lots of fun visiting all of the parks and watching parades. She had a blast on the trip!

1st day of school

Madie is in the 8th grade!
Michaela is in 5th Grade!
Kelly is in 1st grade!
It's hard to believe we are starting another school year. I can't believe how big my babies have gotten!
